Search Delta County Criminal Court Dockets

Start a Delta County criminal court dockets search at the office that actually holds the file: the clerk of the court that handled the charge. Match a name or case number to the right court first. Then read the register of actions, the public list of filings, settings, and outcomes. A statewide search can help you locate a case. The court of record remains the place to confirm a hearing, a filing, or a copy request. Access has limits, since protected and nonpublic records stay closed to the public.

Delta County Criminal Search Fields

MiCOURT keeps its name search separate from its case-number search. That split matters when a common name returns a long results list, or when only part of a file reference is at hand. A public search is no place for sensitive identifiers. The portal offers the public no driver-license-number search.

Search routeFields observedUseful Delta County check
Name panelLast or business name; optional first, middle, and birth yearConfirm the court and case category before relying on a match.
Case-number panelYear, number, and typeUse the court's listed case number when it is available.

Note: A search result can point to a case history without making every document in that file public online.

Criminal Dockets: What They Show

Michigan calls the clerk-maintained case history a register of actions. A public Delta County criminal register can show the court, the filing date, the parties, attorney or self-represented status where public, the assigned judge or jurist, case status, dated docket entries, and hearing events. It can also show a public disposition. One caution applies. A listed event records court activity only; it does not promise a document image, transcript, ledger, or stable public-detail link. Read any visible history as a starting record. If a document reference matters, request the underlying public item from the court.

Case numberMiCOURT offers year, number, and type components, shown here as Year + Number + Type; no Delta-specific criminal display format was verified.
Court and categoryIdentifies the court holding the case history and the case type where public.
Docket entriesDated filings, notices, hearings, motions, orders, and other public case events.
SettingsPublished hearing or event dates may appear, but should be confirmed with the court.
Status or dispositionMay show an open, closed, disposed, or other platform-specific status when public.

Delta County Criminal Case Routing

The 94th District Court handles Delta County misdemeanors punishable by up to one year. It also holds first appearances and felony preliminary examinations. It sets bail in both felony and misdemeanor matters. The 47th Circuit Court is the county's general-jurisdiction trial court. A felony case can start in District Court and move to Circuit if bound over.

Delta County stageLikely court record locationWhat a searcher should confirm
Misdemeanor case94th District CourtWhether the case is still pending or has a public disposition.
Felony first appearance or preliminary matter94th District CourtThe case number and whether later proceedings moved courts.
Bound-over felony47th Circuit CourtThe Circuit case history and any new setting there.

That move changes where the record sits, not what the case means. Keep the lower-court and Circuit references separate when you call or request a copy.

Criminal Case Stages on the Docket

A Delta County case history can trace the path. It runs from criminal charge through first appearance, arraignment, pretrial activity, plea or trial, disposition, and sentencing. Not every case follows the same sequence. Still, the stages give a practical way to read dated docket entries. One hearing passing does not mean the case has ended.

Docket flow: Charge or complaint › First appearance or arraignment › Pretrial activity › Plea or trial › Disposition › Sentencing when applicable.

Words like disposition and setting describe court-record events. They do not explain why a judge ruled, and they cannot predict a later filing.

Delta County Criminal First Appearances

The 94th District Court handles first appearances, felony preliminary proceedings, and bail. A Delta County criminal docket may thus show early activity before any Circuit proceeding exists. The court record is the source for that case history. The Prosecutor's Office describes its own role in criminal litigation. It is not the public docket database.

For bond, the county's bond-posting information describes a payment route at the 94th District Court that is separate from any case lookup. Its listed contact details conflict with a number on the traffic page, so confirm the right court line before relying on either. The page shows where Delta County sends payment questions.

To verify a criminal setting, public filing, or disposition, use the court record, not the payment route.

Delta County Criminal Docket Courts

Delta County has more than one criminal court record path. The 94th District Court is the local starting court. It handles the misdemeanor and felony-preliminary work described above. The 47th Circuit Court holds general-jurisdiction criminal matters, including felonies that move there. MiCOURT may help locate a public case history. The court of record is the source for a precise copy or a current hearing confirmation.

The county directory lists 310 Ludington Street in Escanaba for court-related offices. It also lists a general county number. For an in-person inquiry, bring the court name, the case number if known, the event or document sought, and whether you need inspection or a certified copy. Court access can change with closures or entrance work, so confirm before you travel.

Note: The Circuit Court's remote-access language concerns closure conditions. It does not promise a remote link for every criminal hearing.

Pick the right office before you request anything. The Delta County Prosecutor's Office reviews and litigates adult and juvenile criminal matters. Appeals and related work fall there too. Prosecution is not record-keeping, though. The court clerk holds the public register of actions. Route case-history and court-copy requests to the court or its record system.

For a general question, the county offers a 94th District Court contact route. Treat the form as an inquiry channel rather than a document-ordering system. A written request to the court should name the court, give the case reference or party name when appropriate, describe the document or event sought, state a date range, and say whether certification is requested.

The official Prosecutor page lists the office's scope along with its contact information.

The prosecutor shapes how a Delta County criminal case moves through the system. The court docket is still where the public case record gets verified.

Access Rules for Criminal Dockets

MCR 8.119 opens case records to the public unless a restriction applies. Inspecting a public case history cannot carry a general access fee. Copies may still cost you. The rule also frees a court from having to create a new report. It need not analyze data or produce restricted material.

Juvenile matters mark a separate boundary. MiCOURT excludes juvenile and child-protective proceedings, adoption, mental-health matters, PPO-related material, wills, and other sensitive categories. A juvenile case file generally goes only to people with a legitimate interest. The Michigan juvenile rules control that access.

Public-record limit: A closed case can still have a public case history, while a sealed or nonpublic record may not be available. MCR 3.925 sets a legitimate-interest standard for juvenile files. MCR 1.109 addresses redaction of protected information.

Missing Delta County Criminal Results

A blank screen proves nothing. An older or missing result does not mean no criminal event occurred in Delta County. MiCOURT warns that some criminal convictions display only where sentencing occurred within seven years at courts using that filter. A result can also vanish for several reasons. The case may be restricted. It may sit in another court, be absent from that public view, or have been searched with incomplete information.

Sharpen a second search using the court designation, the date range, and the case-number components. Then go to the court of record instead of trusting the empty result. County administrative records take a different route than court case records. The county's FOIA route accepts written requests by letter, fax, or email, provided they describe the record sufficiently. FOIA still cannot defeat court sealing or juvenile confidentiality.

A public criminal result sometimes needs court-level confirmation. The county's 94th District Court contact page posts the general inquiry route.
